MEET THE SPEAKERS:
My main role is with Diversity Role Models, a Charity who aim to prevent homophobic, biphobic and transphobic bullying in UK schools. I’m also a committee member at Schools OUT UK the LGBT Education charity.
EY Assistant Tax Advisor studying towards ACA and CTA qualifications. Following successful completion of A-Levels, I worked for RBS Group for close to 2 years within portfolio management roles in Corporate and Commercial Banking. Joined EY in September 2017 and currently working within EY’s Global Compliance & Reporting team.

Annalisa Toccara is a freelance journalist, marketer and digital strategist specialising in campaigns. Having graduated with a BA honours from The University of Wales, she has a wide range of industry experience (B2B & B2C) in event management, marketing communications and brand identity. In 2011, she wrote and self-published, her first book Lipstick: A Woman’s Best Form of Defence and in 2016, she founded a leading social enterprise (ourmel.org.uk) dedicated to exploring cultural identity, history and talent. In 2017, she launched Sheffield’s first Black History Month Festival, an annual month-long arts and cultural celebration in October and became the Vice-Chair of the BAMER hub, Sheffield Equality Hub Network. Annalisa was honoured to receive a Women’s Centenary Award for her services to the community by the Lord Mayor of Sheffield in 2018.

Shamila suffers from MS, and she realised that there had to be more support in the Muslim community for people suffering from disabilities. InspirAbility is an online support platform for people living with disabilities. Shamila also educates adults and children through illustrative children’s books. Nothing has stopped her and she continues to gain supporters through the great work InspirAbility do every day.

Dr Carl Austin Behan
Born and brought up in Crumpsall, North Manchester, left school at 16 with 1 GCSE in Drama, Joined the RAF at 19, was discharged in 1997 due to being gay as it was still illegal back then, Joined Greater Manchester Fire Service but left after 18 moths, set up a Promotions Company in 1999, won Mr Gay UK in 2001, set up a cleaning company in 2010, became a City Councillor in 2011, was Manchester’s youngest and first openly Gay Lord Mayor in 2016. After coming off the Council in 2018 – Appointed by The Mayor of Greater Manchester to be one of his special advisors. Received an Honouree Doctorate from University of Bolton for services to the community.
