In November 2018 and February 2019 Northern Power Futures Festivals took place in Manchester and Newcastle. These events were the high-profile launch of a wider initiative, brought to you by the founders of sister movement, Northern Power Women.[ NPW] Attended by two half thousand. people spanning 14 to 60+, these open-to-all Festivals received backing and active involvement from political leaders, major employers and education establishments.
In addition to giving practical advice and support to thousands of career seekers and career makers, the Festivals provided us with real insight into the kinds of careers help that people find valuable.
Northern Power Futures works in partnership with schools, further and higher educational establishments and to provide stand-alone events and ancillary services which connect talented individuals with aspiration, opportunity and practical careers guidance.
We welcome and work in line with findings from the government’s 2014 Gatsby report, which aims to put in place a strong foundation of good quality careers advice.
Successful companies stay strong by recruiting a continuous pipeline of emerging talent. In the North we have a wealth of talent that is often being mis-directed by blinkered, under-resourced careers advice. We want to better connect the worlds of work and school in the North by giving students and employers the chance to take part in vibrant, engaging events focused on workplace understanding.
